My Sad Loss
Hello Everyone
You may have guessed from the lack of posts that Vintage Bunty (AKA my wife Barbara) has not been well in recent months. Unfortunately she finally lost her 21 month battle with Ovarian Cancer on Wednesday 6th February 2013 at 10:00pm.
She bore her various treatments and procedures with great grace and I will miss her love, friendship, loyalty, humor, smile, tolerance and support so much that I cannot find the words to explain how deeply I feel her loss.
She started to deteriorate rapidly from the Friday before her death but managed to stay at home until the day itself and at least avoided her worst fear of an agonising end that went on for weeks or months.
She was such a talented person yet so modest. She could paint, embroider, sew, do patchwork, take great photographs, and above all combine these to great effect, making beautiful collages. She also made up kits and sold them alongside digital backgrounds for scrapbookers and so on. Yet in the house we have very few items as she thought displaying her own work was immodest.
She leaves behind not only her husband, but a brother, sister, mother, two nephews, a niece, sisters and brother-in-laws and many friends who will miss her gentle ways and sweet, tender nature.
I know she really enjoyed her blog and loved swapping tips, ideas and goodies with many of you. Thank you for following her blog and take care.
RIP my darling wife.
Mr V-B (AKA Paul)
Update 11:00pm Sunday - the amazing Laurie has posted a tribute to Barbara on the Button Floozies blog. Thank you, Laurie. Her other friends and family will love it as much as I do.

What terribly sad news, I am so sorry. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you to not have her beside you. I have only known Barbara in blogland for a couple of years, but I am so glad to have been in her circle of bloggy friends, and to have been inspired by the beautiful things she used to create. We will miss her very much. Liz x

My heartfelt condolences to you and your family for the loss of a dear and beloved companion and friend. I hope the memories and her work are a source of great comfort to you.
Paul,
In the last couple of weeks, I had Barbara popped into my mind. She and I had corresponded over the years and I knew of her battle with cancer. She was always positive and upbeat and I was so happy to see her rally awhile ago.
Daily, I gaze at one of my favorite pieces of her art that hangs in my studio. Her artwork was outstanding and I looked forward to seeing her photos of the garden and the beautiful area of the world that you live in.
I send you all my best. May the days ahead be good to you and thank you for sharing such a wonderful tribute to your Barbara on her blog. She was dearly loved by all of us. I will miss her.
Fondly,
Jan

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Paul. Barbara was such a sweet and talented lady. I had enjoyed following her instructions on how to dye fabric and laces with avocado skins and she's always on my mind when I use some of those pieces. I had hoped so much that Barbara would recover from that awful disease. She and her creations will be missed.
Julia

I am so very sorry for your loss of your dear wife, Barbara. Your tribute to her is touching. She will be missed by many, and you will be in my prayers.
Oh Paul
I'm so sad to read that dear Barbara has lost her courageous battle....
She was like a breath of fresh air to us all in blog land, a very enthusiastic talented and inspirational artist.
Barbara and I met at an on-line class and visited one another often.
In 2010 I was the lucky winner of her Bunty Barmcake Shop Giveaway – a delicious parcel of lace, buttons and ribbons which have given me so much pleasure.
She was always so gracious, a generous, modest and fun friend and I shall miss her very much.
Sending you my heartfelt sympathy dear Paul and thank you for posting this beautiful tribute to your darling wife, she was indeed one of life’s treasures and she will be sadly missed by all her friends.
Send love and prayers to you and all her family.

So sad that she is no longer here to inspire.....sorry for your loss x
Dear Paul, I just lost my husband and know what your loss feels like. Please take the time to grieve how you feel is right for you. Allow it to happen and know that the waves of emotions are there for a time and that is ok. Minute by minute is all you can do for the time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Almost a year on and I have just seen your sad news. I'm so so sorry.
I have the great honour of owning a piece of Barbara's work. It is called the erosion bundle hanging and is on the wall in my studio and I look at it everyday and have had many many lovely comments on it. Next to it is a card that I notice is on the side bar of Barbara's blog.
We did have a link in that my sister lives in Witney and I spoke to Barbara about visiting her when I come down. How sad that it is not to be.
My thoughts are with you and hope that you have taken comfort in all,the lovely comments people have left you.
Lynn xx
At the same time, I discover the existence of this beautiful place and the fact that the talented person who made it is disappeared... All my thoughts go for you
